No access to Aungier St from Bishop St from Sunday the 1st of February.

In a bid to reduce traffic conflict at the junction, Dublin City Council will be closing access from Bishop Street onto Aungier Street/Redmond’s Hill from Sunday February 1st 2015.

This is going to cause a lot of confusion for a few days next week as a significant number of cars use the "rat run"

The closure is designed to improve traffic flow along Aungier Street particularly in light of the increased bus traffic in the area due to recent Luas Diversionary works.

The closure will make it safer for both pedestrians and cyclists passing through the junction and improve the environment for local residents by reducing traffic along Bishop Street.

The closure will initially be implemented for a trial period of 6 months with a view to making the closure permanent should it prove successful.

Possible Diversionary Routes for Local Traffic on Bishop’s Street

Bishop Street to Wexford Street:
Traffic can proceed down Peter’s Row, turn right at Whitefriar Place and turn right onto Aungier Street.

Bishop Street to Aungier Street:
Traffic can proceed down Peter’s Row, turn right at Whitefriar Place and turn right or left onto Aungier Street.

Bishop Street to Georges St / Aungier St:
Instead of taking Bishop St, travel along Bride St to Golden Lane and from there take Stephens St Upper to either Georges St or Aungeir St

Bishop Street to Digges Street Upper
Traffic can proceed down Peter’s Row, turn right at Whitefriar Place, turn right onto Aungier Street, and then turn left onto Digges Street Upper

Comments or Observations on the Closure can be forwarded to traffic@dublincity.ie
