Quiz Time Riddle!

You have a $7,000 gold bar, and you sell it to a client. Each day, you must give the client $1,000 worth of the gold. You must use one knife to cut it. 'The knife will be unusable after the second time you use it. How do you give the correct amount each day?

This riddle was once used to test wall street employees.

Post your answer in the comments section of the blog, if no one gets the answer I'll post answer here at 5.30.

Mark Beddis got the answer correct:

You cut the bar into a $1,000 piece, a $2,000 piece and a $4,000 piece. The first day you give him the $1,000 piece, the next day you take that piece back and give him the $2,000 piece. The 3rd day you give him the $1,000 back, and the 4th day you take the $1,000 and the $2,000 back and give him the $4,000. The 5th day you give him the $1,000, the 6th day you take that back and give him the $2,000 and on the 7th and last day, you give him the remaining $1,000 piece.
